• Board certification. Look for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and ask to see it. Dr. Henderson is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
• Training. Ask about fellowship training. Dr. Henderson completed fellowship training in plastic surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
• Results. Look at before and after photos of patients with goals like yours.
• Where and how. Ask where your surgery will be performed and what anesthesia options you have. Dr. Henderson offers awake options and general anesthesia. Surgery can be performed at our office-based surgical facility or, if you prefer, at a local hospital.
• Your consultation. A good consultation covers your goals, the cost, and allows you ask questions to ensure you are comfortable proceeding.

Traveling for Surgery

RCH Plastic Surgery has one office, in Tyler, Texas. Patients come from East Texas, across Texas, and across the country. Many begin with a virtual consultation from home, then travel to Tyler for an examination, surgery, and follow-up. Dr. Henderson will tell you which visits need to be in person.

• Start with a virtual consultation. You can schedule one online or call (903) 251-2765 before you plan any travel.
• Getting to Tyler. Tyler is reached by US 69, US 271, and State Highways 31, 64, 110 and 155, with Interstate 20 to the north. Drive time depends on where you are coming from, so plan your route and allow extra time on the day of surgery.
• Arrange a driver. After surgery with sedation or anesthesia, you should not drive.
• Ask about staying nearby. For some procedures, Dr. Henderson may recommend staying in the Tyler area the first night or longer, and being close for early follow-up visits.
• Ask about follow-up. Ask which check-ups must be in person and which can be done virtually.
• Set up your recovery space at home before you travel.
