Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a procedure where your surgeon uses implants or fat transfer to enlarge the breasts.

Am I a candidate for breast augmentation?

Good candidates for breast augmentation include those with small breasts as well as those who need breast volume restored after significant weight loss, breastfeeding, or aging.

What are the implant options?

  • Saline implants are filled with sterile salt water.
  • Silicone implants are filled with a gel that feels more like natural breast tissue.
  • Implants can be placed either between the breast tissue and chest muscle or behind the chest muscle.
  • Fat transfer from other body areas can also be used to enlarge the breasts.

What are the anesthesia options?

Breast augmentation surgery can be performed with general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.
