Liposuction or Non-Invasive Fat Removal

Liposuction or Non-invasive fat removal?

The COVID-19 pandemic and its fallout including the closure of gyms and limitations of gatherings have led some of us to change our usual health routines. Many of us now move less and eat more, leading to weight gain over the past year. After looking in the mirror, we may notice some things that we would like to change on our bodies. This may lead us to consider body sculpting options such as Liposuction or non-invasive fat removal to help reshape our bodies.

But which is the right choice?

Non-Invasive Fat Removal

Non-invasive fat removal includes options such as CoolSculpting which uses freeze therapy and Venus or lasers which use heat therapy.

Non-invasive methods do not involve incisions or surgery and therefore have less recovery time. By freezing or heating the fat, the fat cells die and the body eliminates them over time. These methods are best suited for those with a small amount of fat to remove or small areas to be contoured. Non-invasive methods are suitable for those who do not wish to undergo surgery or whose health prevents surgery.

Non-invasive methods generally require several sessions to achieve modest results. Since several sessions are required, the costs of non-invasive fat reduction can be comparable to the costs of liposuction. Often, those who were improperly selected to receive non-invasive methods and do not achieve the desired results with non-invasive methods will advance to liposuction.

Liposuction

Liposuction is surgery with small incisions that allow your surgeon to apply suction and physically remove fat cells. Therefore it is more invasive. Liposuction achieves better results in less time than Coolsculpting, especially for those with larger amounts of fat to remove or larger areas to be contoured.

Both liposuction and non-invasive fat removal have their limitations. Some patients may seek one of these methods when they truly need a more advanced surgical procedure such as a tummy tuck or a neck lift for the best result.

It is important to remember that liposuction and non-invasive methods do not cause weight loss or prevent the fat that remains in your body from becoming larger. Body contouring with these methods compliments a nutritious diet and active lifestyle. Body contouring may also give you the refreshing motivation needed to improve your lifestyle to maintain your results.
