Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is offered to women who have had a mastectomy or other breast surgery due to cancer or trauma.

In breast reconstruction Dr. Henderson will use techniques to rebuild new breast(s) to resemble the form and appearance of the natural breast.

Good candidates for breast reconstruction include those with complete or partial loss of breast tissue after cancer or trauma.

There are several factors to consider in breast reconstruction.

Multiple operations are usually required.

You have many choices for breast reconstruction including implants, fat transfer, or your body's own tissue.

Dr. Henderson will work closely with your oncologist to help you choose the best procedure based on your oncologic needs.

Dr. Henderson will examine you and help determine which procedure is most suitable for you then provide you expert treatment and care during the process.

There are two main types of breast reconstruction.

Implant reconstruction uses implants to expand the chest skin and create a new breast.

Flap reconstruction creates a new breast by taking skin, fat, and muscle from another part of your body.

Dr. Raven Henderson will examine you and recommend the procedure that will be most suitable for you.

Breast reconstruction surgery is performed under general anesthesia.
